The Impossible Planet : This pair never really did anything for me – hardly helps that they do the whole "Joss thing" by introducing a cute and perky young woman just for their demographic to go "awww…" over and then horribly kill her off (plenty of time for her to be terrified before her lungs explode, lovely)… Meant to be chilling but Ood in this are just a poor-man’s zombies (again) and the possessed guy is too ineffectual to mean anything…

The Satan Pit : *yawn* – always though that the huge monster just looked silly, how can it be smiling when it’s mind is supposed to be elsewhere… Oh look, another slow-moving chase to make up for no plot… No great shakes plot or dialogue-wise, lots of dead people we don’t care about… Must be mid-season… C’mon – you can do much better than this…

Love and Monsters : Now *this* is more like it – and it’s RTD, who knew! Great Scooby Doo doors sketch :-D… The excellent Marc Warren’s everyman and Shirley Henderson… RTD reminds us (as happens so very very well later on in ‘Turn Left’) that *everything* that happens in the series *is cannon* no matter how daft it seems at the time… Such a sweet story (and who doesn’t love ELO?)… Shows that the Dr can be so-powerful an archetype that he barely needs to be *in* the show… A show about fans without being mean… Once per episode someone says "I’m so sorry"… For such a funny story (in all senses) such a tragic ending…

Fear Her : Another great story that really wants to be a Sapphire and Steel episode… Amazing how much you can do with almost no budget and very few locations… Nicely self-enclosed, suitably un-nerving – pretty good all round…

On to monster-mash-up next…
