This pair of episodes have been one of the best things I’ve seen on TV in a very long time – I’m not ashamed to say I cried at the end. Paul Cornell is as good or better than Steven Moffet (Doctor Dances, Girl in the Fireplace) and has shown, yet again, that the show can be used for incredible demonstrations of emotion, style and elegance.

It’s a shame that the series can be so very variable in quality when they can create masterpieces like this.
