Every year the World Question Center asks that year’s Big Question to several dozen influential scientific thinkers. This year’s is the one in the subject of this post. I’ve not looked through them all (110,000 words!) but I have read quite a few and my favorite two are below:
Sam Harris discusses whether there could be a purely scientific discipline to derive a “natural” universal ethical system.
Clay Shirky discusses “evidence based” rationalism moving into the more traditionally non-scientific disciplies such as politics, sociology and how this leads to the decrease of “non-evidence based” points of view.
